[Ghanili shway shway]
(Sing for me gently)

Egypt
Composed by Zakaria Ahmed, poem by Mahmud Bayram el-Tunsi

Sing for me, gently, gently
Sing for me, you enchant me

Sing me a melody
The listeners are swaying gently
And the branches flutter
Narcissus with jasmine
Travel with the caravans
Traverse the deserts
Gently gently gently gently
Sing me a song, you enchant me

The song is the life of the soul
It can heal the sick
And remedy maladies
That perplex the doctors
It clears away the darkness of night
And lights up the eyes of sweet lovers

I will sing, and say, for the birds,
In the early morning, good morning
And the moon and the (green bird?)
And oh, they repeat with me
Gently gently gently gently
Sing to me my song, you capture my eyes

I swear to you on the house of the Lord
O believers of the house of the Lord
The people attracted to my singing
The girls of the neighborhood are dancing
Gently gently gently gently
Sing to me my song, you capture my eyes

Gently gently gently gently
Sing to me my song, you capture my eyes
