Scarborough Fair

English

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme,.
Remember me to one who lives there,
For she once was a true love of mine..

Tell her to make me a cambric shirt,
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme,.
Without any seam or needlework,
Then she’ll be a true love of mine..

Tell her to wash it in yonder well,
Where never spring water nor rain ever fell.

Tell her to dry it on yonder thorn,
Which never bore blossom since Adam was born.

Now he has asked me questions three,
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme,.
I hope he'll answer as many from me,
Before he’ll be a true love of mine..

Tell him to buy me an acre of land,
Between the salt water and the sea strand.

Tell him to plough it with a double ram's horn,
And sow it all over with one grain of corn.

Tell him to reap it with a sickle of leather,
And bind it all up in a bunch of heather.

And when he has done and finished his work.
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme,.
Tell him to come and claim his shirt,
And then he’ll be a true love of mine.
