Ösküs bodum
(Orphan’s lament)

Ösküs bodum, čaŋgïs bodum
Öpejliimde ölürüm kai
Öpejliimde ölgen bolza
Öl-le šara xamaan eves

Kara čaŋgïs küzhür bodum
Kavailïïmda kalïrïm kai
Kavailïïmda kalgan bolza
Xannïg-na shara xamaan eves

Uyazïndan čarïlganda
Kuš-la tölü keergenčig
Iyezinden čarïlganda
Kizhi tölü keergenčig
I'm an orphan, I am lonely
I should have died in the crib
If had I died in the crib,
Who would have pitied my bloody body?

Black alone, I've been poor.
I stayed in my hay sheds.
Though I have stayed in my barracks
Not with the bloody body of a woman.

As a baby bird fallen from the nest
I will never see my mother agan
Even if was here now
All those years without her would remain
